Welcome to Cub Scouting!
We are happy that you choose Pack 231 to begin your Cub Scouting Adventure! Everyone of our Leaders and Parents work very hard to make our Pack a positive and exciting place for your Cub to learn, grow and have fun. Please review all the information in our "New Parent Info" Pages to help you with some of the questions you may have. All our Pack Leaders stand ready to asist you and your Cub Scout on their journey of adventure. Please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone of us if you have any questions or issues. What are the ranks for Cub Scouts?
Ranks are determined by the Scouts' grade levels and/or ages.
Kindergartners are called Lions. First graders are called Tigers, Second graders are called Wolves, Third graders are called Bears, Fourth graders are called Webelos, and Fifth graders are called Webelos AOL (Arrow of Light). Boys or girls may join scouting at any level.
Each rank has established achievements that the Scouts must complete in order to advance to the next rank. The first rank every Scout must earn is the Bobcat.
As recognition is important to young children the Cub Scouting advancement plan provides fun for the kids, gives them a sense of personal achievement as they earn badges, and strengthens family understanding as adult family members work with the scouts on advancement projects. Scouts are awarded beads, beltloops and special patches throughout the year to mark their progress.
Once a Scout completes the Webelo achievements and earns the Arrow of Light, s/he may choose to move on to and join a Scouting Troop.
